How to Clean Dance Shoes and Keep Dance Sneakers Moving

If you are searching for how to clean dance shoes, start with the material in front of you. Dance sneakers pick up floor dust, street grit and sweat through class, socials and long sessions, so clean them gently and let every part dry properly before you wear them again.

How to clean dance shoes: AIRDANCE+® uppers

AIRDANCE+® is the name for the premium materials used across Pulse Dance Shoes uppers. Flow 2, Flow 2 Wide and Nova use AIRDANCE+® premium microfiber. Nova also has an AIRDANCE+® premium suede microfiber heel panel. Volt uses an AIRDANCE+® premium canvas cotton body, with AIRDANCE+® microfiber at the heel and toe cage.

To clean:

  • Remove loose grit with a dry microfiber cloth before adding water.
  • Use a damp microfiber cloth and gently wipe the upper in circular motions.
  • For tougher marks, use warm water with a small amount of mild soap.
  • On Volt canvas, keep the cloth damp rather than wet. Work slowly and avoid soaking the cotton body.
  • On suede microfiber panels, blot marks gently. Do not scrub hard, as heavy pressure can flatten the surface.

The SPYNFLEX® sole is a dance-engineered sole made from proprietary composite polyurethane. Its multi-textured surface is built for grip and glide, with smooth zones where you turn, flex grooves that bend where your foot bends and a reinforced shock-absorbing heel. Keeping the surface clean helps the sole behave predictably underfoot.

To clean:

  • Wipe the sole with a soft cloth or toothbrush and warm soapy water.
  • Work around the grooves and textured areas to remove packed-in dust and grit.
  • For tougher spots, use melamine foam lightly. Avoid harsh scrubbing or abrasive cleaners.
  • Wipe away soap residue with a clean damp cloth.

Air dry your shoes at room temperature, away from direct heat. Do not put them in a dryer or leave them against a heater. Once dry, store them somewhere ventilated so the upper, sole and removable insole can air between sessions.
